I’m an Esthetician too, so I know what a Beauty Business Website needs
As a website designer (and esthetician since 2006) I love looking at other beauty business websites. For me, the best beauty websites have a modern website design, and that is pretty hard to find in our industry. Most estheticians seem to gravitate to the bland and basic websites, that are all words, menus and sometimes an intake form.
We can do better than that!
Even if you are not a techie person I am sure you know what a basic website usually has. A Home page, an About Me page, Services, a Product page, sometimes a Gallery and a contact page. But what else can you add to your website to take it to the next level and actually bring in new clients? That’s what I’m going to help you with.
But here is a helpful tip ~ Look at the websites of your competitors and ask yourself if you stand out!
If you aren’t sure, ask your most brutally honest friend.
If you want to raise your prices and take your business to the next level (whatever that mean to you), does you online presence reflect where you’re headed?
To be a high-tiered esthetician you need to make sure you have these 5 things in your beauty website.
Like it or not, if you are running your own business you need to be familiar with SEO. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and it is what you can do to get found on search engines like Google. Now, you can hire someone like me to do this for you (it’s time consuming and there is definitely a learning curve) or you can do your own research and apply what you learn.
SEO is neverending because search engines change their algorithms and what works one year can change the next. But to be ranked on Google there are certain steps that you must take to be indexed.
Check your Title tags and Metadata on the backend of your website.
Make sure your website is mobile responsive, meaning that it functions well on a cell phone.
Make sure you have researched and added your keywords to your website.
Make sure your website on desktop and mobile loads quickly! You can check your page speed here. www.gtmetrix.com
After you have made the above changes to your website add it to Google Search Console to be indexed. This is a little complicated, but there are videos online that can help. I always connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics when I design a website for a client.
The best beauty websites have gorgeous images!
Jazz up your website with original photos! Our social media is full of cute pics, but when I visit beauty salon websites, the images are often so stale. Use portrait mode and start snapping pics of your room, of you working and of consenting clients.
Then, rename your images before uploading them to your website. Your name can have your business name and whatever is happening in the pic. This helps with SEO because images are part of Googles search results.
You may also want to reduce the file size of your image. If you are using Showit as you website platform, like I do, your images are automatically resized as they are uploaded. Images that are too large can effect the page loading time, which effects your SEO.
ABOUT ME PAGE
Have fun with this one! If you are part of a spa or salon, really spotlight each employee with their specialties or skills and some fun facts. If you’re solo, the spotlight is all yours. Don’t be afraid to show your silly side, if that’s your style. If you wear scrubs while you work, show photos of you in cute outfits. Talk about your crazy cat that sits on your yoga mat during your practice. This can be the reason someone chooses you over your competition, so just be yourself.
BRANDING
If a client finds you on social media and then comes across your website, would they instantly recognize your business? Is your brand distinct enough to set you apart from your competitors? I’m gonna be brutally honest here – there are a LOT of lash artists that have run of the mill “eyelash graphics” as their homemade logos. And how many times have you seen the same old graphics that we use for facials and hair?
Having a professional branding session helps you target your ideal dream clientele with your messaging and design. Would a luxury brand have any of the graphics shown below? The best beauty websites definitely would not!
I take my clients through a detailed branding questionnaire to uncover their messaging and business goals to unearth a beautiful brand that will speak directly to their new favorite clients.

The best beauty websites tell the visitor what to do next!
So now that your client is on your website is it easy to book with you? A strategically designed website has nice a flow and the client is guided to the important areas that will actually make them want to book with you.
Make sure you have plenty of options to book with you as they browse your website. A good rule is to have a Book Now button at the top of the page and again at the bottom (or wherever else it makes sense for your particular website design).
If booking with you is confusing, clients will keep looking. It should really be as easy as clicking a BOOK NOW button to take them to your calendar.
This overview is very general. I didn’t dive too deeply into SEO and Image optimization today but follow my blogs for more of this type of content if you are trying to keep your website up-to-date.
